Will It Ever Be Possible to Regrow Missing Teeth?

March 27, 2013

dental implantsRight now, the best way for a patient to replace one or more missing teeth is with dental implants. That’s because dental implants are structured in a way that’s similar to teeth. On top is the crown, which replaces the missing tooth. Below is the metal implant that acts like a prosthetic root. When inserted into the jaw, the implant will stimulate the growth of new bone tissue in the jaw, creating a strong, stable foundation and creating results that feel natural.

As effective as this option is, though, it may one day be possible for dentists like Dr. Duane Keuning and Dr. Greg Riley to help patients re-grow what they’ve lost. In March, Science World Report published an article reporting that doctors and researchers had found a way to use stem cells to grow a new tooth where one had been lost. The process involves taking a sample of gum tissue, isolating particular cells, and transplanting them back to the jaw.

You won’t be seeing dentists offer this as a service any time soon, but it could be that one day bioengineered teeth will replace dental implants.

Until then, talk to our team at Juno Beach Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry about how dental implants can help. Not every patient is a good candidate for the procedure, but many are. What’s more dental implants are versatile; they can be used to replace a single tooth, a few teeth, or even a full row of teeth. During a consultation visit with Dr. Keuning or Dr. Riley, we can help you understand your needs and your treatment options. We can also put together a personalized plan that will help you address those options.

Call us today to reserve an appointment. We serve patients from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, and Tequesta.

Discreet Orthodontic Care with Invisalign

March 22, 2013

InvisalignHave you avoided orthodontic care because you don’t want to commit to a year or more of traditional braces? Your team at Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry has good news. Your ticket to a straighter, healthier smile doesn’t have to lie behind the brackets and wires of traditional braces. Instead, you can achieve the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted with revolutionary service known as Invisalign.

Convenient Benefits of Invisalign

The major benefit of Invisalign over traditional braces is that Invisalign doesn’t use brackets or wires. Instead, this great orthodontic system lets our Juno Beach patients enjoy a more discreet treatment. That’s because Invisalign uses clear, custom-made aligners that are nearly invisible. No one but you and our cosmetic dentistry team will ever have to know about your treatment.

But clear aligners aren’t the only benefit of Invisalign. They’re also removable. That means you can take them for enjoying meals and for brushing and flossing every day. You’ll also take them out to move from your current aligner to the next one in your treatment kit. By the time your treatment is done, you’ll have worn every aligner in your kit for about two weeks each.

Is Invisalign Right for You?

Invisalign works well for patients concerned primarily with how their smile looks, which means it’s not right for every patient. If you need orthodontic care and want to find out if Invisalign is right for you, call Juno Beach Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry for an appointment. Dr. Duane Keuning and Dr. Greg Riley provide general, cosmetic, and restorative care for patients from Juno Beach, Tequesta, Jupiter, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, and beyond.

Safety in Teeth Whitening

January 21, 2013

Teeth whitening is a very common, and safe, cosmetic dentistry service. Nevertheless, there are safety tips to keep in mind. And that’s what we’d like to focus on in today’s post. Over the course of this post, we’ll offer some things to keep in mind as you consider whether teeth whitening is right for you.

Visit Juno Beach for a Dental Exam and Cleaning

The first safety tip to keep in mind is that, before you start any cosmetic or restorative services, you should visit your Juno Beach dentist for a dental exam and cleaning. Through a cleaning and exam, Dr. Keuning and Dr. Riley can help you remove staining through a professional cleaning. What’s more, they can help you identify gum disease or cavities, which must be treated before starting any cosmetic or restorative care.

Follow Instructions Exactly

Once you have your take-home teeth whitening kit, follow instructions exactly as given to you. Wearing your whitening trays for longer than prescribed can damage teeth and cause problems with sensitivity. You can protect your teeth and ensure that your treatment is more comfortable by only wearing your trays for as long as you’re supposed each day.

You should also limit yourself to one or two touchups a year. When your teeth have reached their whitest, that’s all that’s needed to help you keep your smile as bright and dazzling as you’d like for them to be.

Do you want to know more about teeth whitening safety tips? Call Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic. Dr. Keuning and Dr. Riley would be happy to answer any questions you might have to help you get the safe and effective cosmetic care you want.

We’re proud to serve patients from Juno Beach, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Tequesta, and beyond.

Teeth Whitening—Just What Your Smile Needs

January 7, 2013

When you look at your smile, what does it seem to be missing? Is it as white or confident as you’d like? If not, treatment with teeth whitening may be able to help. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry services that dentist offer. And at Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic, we offer effective take-home teeth whitening as our preferred method of care.

Why take-home teeth whitening? Well, for two reasons: it works with your schedule, and it results in little to no sensitivity at all.

Take-home teeth whitening fits your schedule because you can do it in the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re watching TV, reading, or just doing some household chores, you can work on creating the white, dazzling smile you’ve always wanted. All you’ll need from us are your custom-made whitening trays and a supply of professional-strength whitener. Once you start your treatment, you’ll begin to see results in a few days, with the most dramatic results appearing after a week or more.

It’s true that in-office teeth whitening can produce stunning results in just one hour, but the tradeoff is that many patients experience uncomfortable sensitivity. Take-home teeth whitening works over a longer period of time, resulting in little to no sensitivity. For patients who are looking for an alternative to in-office teeth whitening, take-home teeth whitening may be just what you’ve been looking for.

But to find out for sure which is most right for you, call Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic for a consultation. Dr. Keuning and Dr. Riley are experienced, compassionate dentists who want to help you achieve your dreams. During your consultation, we’ll help you develop a personalized cosmetic dentistry plan that meets your needs.

We serve patients from Juno Beach, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, and Tequesta.

The Importance of a Beautiful, Healthy Smile

December 11, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — Greg Riley @ 3:30 pm

A beautiful, healthy smile is an important thing to have. It makes you feel confident, and is always so inviting to others. A smile is often the most important thing we can wear, as it has the power to transform someone’s day. If your smile isn’t quite as nice as you’d like it to be, we can help.

Here at Juno Beach Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry, we’re here to help you achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. We have a variety of options to help you achieve this goal.

One of the ways we can do this is through Invisalign. Are your teeth not as straight as you’d like, but you don’t want the unsightly appearance of traditional braces? There’s another great option: clear braces from Invisalign! The clear aligners are practically invisible, especially when compared to traditional braces. You also have the option to remove them entirely for special occasions, and no wires to irritate your mouth.

Teeth whitening is another great option to help quickly and easily improve the appearance of your smile. Whiter teeth help add confidence and attract attention! We offer take-home whitening trays so you can get whiter teeth from the convenience of your home, no additional visits required!

Interested in having a beautiful, healthy smile? Give us a call today and find out how we can help you! Dr. Duane Keuning or Dr. Greg Riley would be happy to help create a smile plan for you! We can’t wait to make your smile beautiful again!

Our Juno Beach office serves patients from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Tequesta, and beyond.

Smile Makeovers

November 27, 2012

Is your smile not quite what you’d like? The team here at Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry is ready to help! We can create a smile makeover plan to get you smiling proudly again!

There are a variety of options available for your smile makeover! Porcelain veneers and teeth whitening deal with the physical appearance of your teeth. Porcelain veneers can help hide cracks, chips, discolorations and minor gaps in your teeth, among things, while teeth whitening will leave your teeth a bright, shining white.

Laser gum contouring is a great option if you think your smile is too “gummy.” Our doctors will carefully and precisely use a laser to reduce the size of your gums and help enhance your smile.

If your teeth are crooked, Invisalign is a great choice! These clear braces work by using a series of clear aligners, to gradually straighten your teeth. What’s more, you’ll have the freedom to remove your aligners for important events and without the irritation of metal in your mouth.

If you’re interested in a smile makeover, Dr. Greg Riley and Dr. Duane Keuning of Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry would be happy to tell you more. Call our Juno Beach dental office today to schedule your appointment. We serve patients from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Tequesta, Jupiter, and beyond.

Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

October 16, 2012

In our last post we talked about how missing teeth can change your smile. We mentioned that just one gap can result in misalignment, impaired functionality, and bone loss. But, if you have one or more missing teeth, there is hope. With a revolutionary solution like dental implants from our Juno Beach dental office, you can enjoy a smile that looks beautiful and feels completely natural again.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

As we explained last time, tooth roots have an important function. Besides anchoring your tooth to your jaw, they stimulate the growth of new bone tissue, keeping your jaw healthy and strong. When a root goes missing, though, the health of your jaw will suffer and further tooth loss may result.

Dental implants can help you avoid this. That’s because dental implants don’t just replace your missing tooth, they also replace your missing root. Using a prosthetic root made of titanium they can restore that tooth/root combination you lost when you lost your tooth.

Here’s what you can expect from a dental implant procedure. In the first phase, your titanium tooth root will be placed. How many implants you need will depend on your situation. If you’re just replacing one tooth, you’ll just need one implant. But if you’re having implant-retained dentures put in, you’ll need multiple roots to support your new smile.

The second stage involves the attachment of your new tooth (or teeth). This happens after your implant(s) and your jaw have had time to fuse. When there’s a strong enough foundation in place, your Juno Beach doctor will attach your teeth and your procedure will be finished. Afterwards, you can look forward to having a smile that functions just like a natural smile, with results that could last for the rest of your life.

Do you want to learn more about dental implants? Find out exactly what your options are by calling Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry. During a consultation appointment, Dr. Duane Keuning or Dr. Greg Riley would be happy to help you put a treatment plan together.

Our Juno Beach office serves patients from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, Tequesta, and beyond.

Why Is Replacing Missing Teeth So Important?

October 2, 2012

Missing teeth aren’t just a cosmetic issue. Gaps in your smile can also have a powerful impact on your oral health by changing your smile’s alignment, impairing functionality, and contributing to bone loss in the jaw.

In part, this is because a gap in your smile increases the workload on your remaining teeth. The extra pressure exerted on them when you chew causes them to shift out of alignment, creating spaces and making them vulnerable to food impaction and decay.

Another reason for the change in your smile is the loss of your tooth root. Tooth toots stimulate your jawbone to produce new bone tissue, keeping your jaw healthy. When a root is missing, there’s nothing there to stimulate the growth of new bone, causing you to lose bone instead. What’s more, that weakness will spread over time instead of staying localized, putting nearby teeth at risk. After four to eight years, you may have lost as many as five more teeth, all because of just one gap.

Tooth Replacement Options from Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry

At our Juno Beach dental office, we have restorative options that can help. One of the most effective, which we’ll spend more time on in our next post, is dental implants. Another service, like crown & bridgework or full-mouth reconstruction, can also aid in restoring functionality and preventing teeth from shifting out of place.

Do you have missing teeth? Dr. Greg Riley and Dr. Duane Keuning of Juno Beach Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry would be happy to advise you of your options. Call our Juno Beach dental office today to schedule your appointment. We serve patients from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Tequesta, Jupiter, and beyond.
